With temperatures forecasted for near 70’s, we’re getting our lawn equipment tuned up and ready to go. We’re always looking to expand our customer base so, if you hear of anyone looking for lawn services, have them call Big Rock!
We’ve already started landscaping. Our first project of the year is turning out to be a fantastic stone wall – we’ll post pictures soon. Found a great quartz/slate mix boulder to incorporate into the fieldstone wall. It’s great to be back outside and playing in the dirt and rocks!
We look forward to seeing all of our lawn customers after a long winter….in our next post, we'll be sharing our new eco-friendly lawn care products.
Looks like the joke’s on us! Mother Nature and the weather forecasters played the ultimate prank on winter weary Vermonters this year. Yesterday morning, snowfall totals were estimated for 10-12” throughout Central and Southern Vermont starting early morning April 1st.
With our plows back on and us at high alert, we monitored Accuweather and the National Weather Service all day yesterday. Forecasts slowly decreased the expected snowfall accumulations throughout day and evening yesterday and when we turned in for the night, they had dropped to an estimated 7” of wet, heavy snow.
Now this morning, (Happy April Fool’s Day) they’ve again changed their minds and we’re looking at a total of 5” – 6” of the wet white stuff.
It kind of reminds me of my wife’s shopping ruse. I ask her how much she spent, she says “Oh, I dunno, maybe $$$$.” And when my eyes bug out and my forehead starts to sweat, she “adjusts” her figures to save me from my obviously impending heart-attack. Maybe this is Mother Nature’s approach too? Heck, if I tell them I’m dropping 6” in April, they’ll be MAD. But if I make them think 12” and later change it to 6”, they’ll feel so much better!
We’ll keep you posted but it hasn’t started snowing YET!
After a challenging winter with record snowfall, we decided that a BRL Buzz blog is a great way to keep our snow plowing customers up-to-date with our snow clearing progress.
The day of the big snowstorm in early March, we counted 70 incoming/outgoing calls in just that one day! Many customers call to find out our estimated time of arrival so they can move their vehicles out of the way, others are requesting additional services such as snow removal or sanding or any other special needs.
By having the "office help" a/k/a my wife, publish periodic updates, delays or other helpful information on the BRL Buzz blog our customers will be better informed. Of course, we still want to hear from you so, this shouldn't discourage your calls. In fact, we also want to engage those customers whom we don't hear from as often.
Now, winter is almost over and soon it will be time for lawn mowing. There's plenty of opportunity for giving updates, tips and suggestions for lawn care, weather-related schedule delays and show-off our landscaping projects.
We hope you will find this useful and look forward to your comments and suggestions!
Happy Spring!
